Get ready to relive your childhood fantasies in Never Neverland with Peter Pan, The Lost Boys, Captain Hook and.. Jane? Yup! We meet Wendy’s daughter in the new Disney film, Peter Pan: Return To Neverland. The animated feature follows Jane, Wendy’s head strong daughter as she struggles with having to be the woman of the family while her father is off to war. Feeling as though she needed to grow up faster than others, Jane thinks of her mother’s Peter Pan stories as “poppy cock” and refuses to give into their wonder. Her little brother Daniel, however, is as true of a Peter Pan believer as they come, but gets his feelings hurt when Jane tells him the stories aren’t real.
After falling into a deep sleep Jane awakes to find Captain Hook and his crew in her bedroom and ready to kidnap her thinking she’s Wendy! Once in Never Neverland, she is saved by none other than Peter Pan who helps to teach her that it’s OK to be young and childish. She even gets to live out her long lost dream of becoming the first “lost girl”. Using her renewed sense of adventure, Jane helps Peter Pan in his never-ending fight against the scurvy Captain Hook!

My kiddos and I have loved this fun sequel to Disney’s classic, Peter Pan. The story is fun and engaging and I love that it’s sending the message that it’s never wrong to just be a kid. Being the oldest child of 4 growing up, I always sort of felt like I needed to play Mom and sometimes forgot that it was OK to just act my age. I hope my oldest never forgets to just have fun and be herself.
We’ve all enjoyed watching the film and I love being able to see Peter Pan and his playful personality in a movie again. The animation is beautiful to watch and I really like the homage they pay to the original film. You can even spot a few of the original landscapes from the first film in this one and it’s really neat! If you’re a Disney fan or just love Peter Pan, I highly suggest picking up a copy!
