When it comes to inspirational movies, I haven’t seen one as inspiring and great as 23 Blast in a long time. Based on the true story of Travis freeman, a high school football player who, because of a sudden freak illness goes blind over night. 23 Blast shows how Travis overcomes his new disability thanks to the encouragement of his parents, best friend Jerry and his strong-willed physical therapist. Not only is he able to lead his best friend in the right direction but realizes he is still able be the football player he was before his blindness.
Being a mother to a son, I can’t imagine having him go through what Travis and his family did. Having any child suddenly go blind would be a major challenge to both the child and the parents and their willingness to overcome Travis’s new affliction was incredibly heart warming. Seeing how much his physical therapist wanted him to succeed at being normal when even he thought it was impossible was wonderful to see. I also loved the relationship between trouble maker Jerry (Travis’s best friend) and Travis. I’m sure we knew a friend growing up that needed a little guidance and recognition once in a while. Having people in your life to care so much about you is a definite way to get you on the road to success and 23 Blast proves that believing in yourself and your loved ones can do just that.
23 Blast isn’t just a football movie, it’s an inspiring true story about a kid who, with his family and best friend by his side was able to overcome one of life’s major obstacles. Be sure to catch 23 Blast in theaters starting October 24th.
