Summer time is almost here and that means outdoor activities are making their comeback. Our family basically lives outside once it’s warm enough so having outdoor products that will stand up to our family’s constant use is a must. Fortunately, we discovered Simplay3, a new online e-tailer in durable, plastic toy and home products. Started by the creator of Little Tikes and Step2, Simplay3 offers fun, easy to build plastic products that are perfect for families.
We had the pleasure of testing out two of their new flagship products, the Elly Coupe and the Easy Haul Flat Bed Cart. Both have exceeded my expectations and my kids are loving them! Take a closer look at what we thought of each item.
Elly Coupe
What kid wouldn’t want their own elephant? The Elly Coupe from Simplay3 gives kiddos their very own ride-in elephant! This foot-propelled car is made from highly durable molded plastic and features fun elephant characteristics, a pretend steering wheel, easy turn wheels, rear storage and easy open side door.
Construction
When it comes to toys like this, I’ll be honest, I usually dread opening the box and seeing the 20-page packet of poorly illustrated instructions and the giant bag of bolts, screws, and washers that are needed to create it. So when I unboxed our Elly Coupe, I was VERY surprised to find out that it required little assembly. (Phew!) Equipped with a drill and after placing the stickers onto the coupe, I was done assembling the car within 15 minutes!
I loved that the main body of the coupe and front, swivel wheel axels come preassembled. Not to mention, the instructions were very easy to understand.
Playability
From a parent’s perspective, the Elly Coupe is a win. Its thick plastic construction makes it durable and able to keep up with my 2-year-old. The large plastic wheels have gone over bumps, holes, rocks, gravel, grass and mud and still, the Elly Coupe moves with just the push of my daughter’s feet. The inside driver’s area is roomy and the roof of the coupe is nice and tall which is great for those with taller kiddos and to allow for growth. The storage area in the back is good for holding one or two small toys to tag along as they go.
Do keep in mind that this coupe does not come with a removable board to close off where the feet push the car around, so I would definitely suggest staying within the recommended age range of 1.5-5 years old.
Our 2-year-old just adores her Elly Coupe! She has loved every minute of having her “own car” as she calls it and even likes to pedal around inside the house.
Mom recommendations
The Elly Coupe is a wonderful toy for youngsters, but if I could add a few features to the coupe they would be:
- A cup holder by the steering wheel
- A handle on the back of the roof for pushing in case my daughter’s legs got tired
- Make the storage area a bit larger or create some kind of trunk space in Elly’s nose
- Have a working horn
Easy Haul Flat Bed Cart
The Simplay3 Easy Haul Flat Bed Cart is the perfect, haul-everything companion. With the ability to haul just over 200 lbs, this cart can move everything from gardening supplies to sporting equipment and even kids. Made from the same durable plastic as their other products, this cart is built to withstand the elements. Plus, the long removable handle makes it easy to pull and store.
Construction
This cart as probably the easiest build I’ve ever done when it comes to plastic products like this. The cart bed is one giant piece so all that was needed from me was attaching the wheels and the handle. After unboxing everything, it took me about 5 minutes and this baby was assembled!
Functionality
The Easy Haul Flat Bed Cart does exactly what it’s intended to, hauling pretty much anything. I love that it has just over a 200 lb weight capacity, which means we can pull loads of different stuff around our yard or neighborhood and not have to worry about fatigue or lifting heavy loads. Plus, since the handle easily removes, I can take the cart anywhere in my car. The wheels are hard, thick plastic so no worries about them popping or going flat. We’ve pulled it over grass, gravel, bumpy roads and over potholes and it’s withstood everything.
Right now we are in baseball season for my two big kids so we’ve been using the Easy Haul Flat Bed Cart to help us haul all of our baseball gear to and from our local park. It’s made getting there and back a much more pleasant experience since we no longer have to hear how heavy everything is from our kids! Since the cart is pretty lightweight, I can easily store our cart by hanging it from a large hook in the ceiling of our garage.
Overall Thoughts
I absolutely love both products! I think Simplay3 has a great concept of what parents are looking for in outdoor toys and I love that their home products have versatility and functionality in mind. I feel the price point on both is spot on with the Elly Coupe coming in at $79.99 and the Easy Haul Flat Bed Cart at $99.99. Each item is definitely made with quality in mind and with the intention of lasting many years to come.

I would like Simplay to produce an Easy Haul Flatbed with an 8 ” caster wheel on its front and a
shorter pushing handle on the front. I think it would be great for us handicapped and others also. We could hang on to it like a walker instead of balancing it which would not give us support.
