Being a mom, I know a bit about dirty dishes. For one, I can’t stand them and for another, I LOVE my dish washer but it isn’t always easy to find great detergent for my dishes. Recently I was able to host an in-home party featuring Cascade Platinum and Cascade Rinse Aid and got to share first hand the platinum cleaning power with my friends! I was asked by Cascade to show how Cascade Platinum and Rinse Aid can work together to defeat tough starch and protein messes and even let you skip the pre-rinse cycle!
In preparation for my party I was told to bake some brownies and leave the pan out over night. I was then asked to create a starchy, hard to clean dish such as Macaroni and Cheese to share with my guests. Take a look at how yummy my Macaroni and Cheese turned out! Grab the recipe below if you like.
Recipe: Mac n’ Cheese (courtesy of The Pioneer Woman)
Ingredients –
- 4 cups Dried Macaroni
- 1 whole Egg Beaten
- 1/4 cup (1/2 Stick Or 4 Tablespoons) Butter
- 1/4 cup All-purpose Flour
- 2-1/2 cups Whole Milk
- 2 teaspoons (heaping) Dry Mustard, More If Desired
- 1 pound Cheese, Grated
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt, More To Taste
- 1/2 teaspoon Seasoned Salt, More To Taste
- 1/2 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
- Optional Spices: Cayenne Pepper, Paprika, Thyme
Directions:
Cook macaroni until very firm. Macaroni should be too firm to eat right out of the pot. Drain.
In a small bowl, beat egg. In a large pot, melt butter and sprinkle in flour. Whisk together over medium-low heat. Cook mixture for five minutes, whisking constantly. Don’t let it burn. Pour in milk, add mustard, and whisk until smooth. Cook for five minutes until very thick. Reduce heat to low. Take 1/4 cup of the sauce and slowly pour it into beaten egg, whisking constantly to avoid cooking eggs. Whisk together till smooth.
Pour egg mixture into sauce, whisking constantly. Stir until smooth. Add in cheese and stir to melt. Add salt and pepper. Taste sauce and add more salt and seasoned salt as needed! Pour in drained, cooked macaroni and stir to combine.
I invited a bunch of my girlfriends over and while we munched on the goodies I made, we popped the nasty dishes in the dish washer and let the magic happen!
One of the cool things about Cascade Platinum is that it’s formulated for the nasty of the nasty when it comes to dishes. It’s meant to allow you to skip the pre-wash and go straight to the dirty work. After about a 2 hr wash cycle we opened the machine and let the steam pour out to reveal my dishes. Honestly, I was very skeptical that they both would be totally free of any yuck and was thinking of what to say in case it turned out to be a failed experiment. THANKFULLY I was totally proven wrong and we were all astonished to see perfectly sparkling dishes in the dish washer. Both my girlfriends and I were totally amazed. ( I have to admit I felt kind of old being so impressed by dish detergent, but it really was amazing!)
I think Cascade has hit a total home run with their platinum series detergent. Not only does it let me do less pre-cleaning before adding dishes to the dish washer, it makes sure to get them as clean as possible. Once our cleaning cycle was done and everyone had their fill of yummies, each guest got to take home a Cascade Platinum and Rinse Aid sample to try at home themselves. I don’t think I’ve ever seen women so excited to go home and do their dishes!
