Thank you to Monster 500 for providing me with samples to review. All opinions are my own.
It’s Halloween season and what kid doesn’t enjoy an overdose of the strange, gross and weird during this time of year. Not you can up their freak factor with new Monster 500 toys and play sets available exclusively at Toys R Us! Monster 500 combines freaky, disgusting and legendary monsters with racing fun to create cool toys and play sets that are sure to make any monster lover excited. Monster 500 is exclusively available at Toys R Us and offers 2 different monster play sets, The Toxic Terror Trap and the Graveyard Gauntlet along with loads of different monster racers ready to fight for the finish line.
We had the chance to test out both of these awesome play sets and being a Halloween advocate at heart, I have to say they are the perfect way to bring a little extra spookiness into playtime. The monster cars are all different characters and come in two different sizes. The larger cars offer sound and light action but don’t fit with the play sets while the smaller character cars are made for racing down the play set tracks. One of the really cool things about the separate cars is that each one comes with a trading card that contains a code to be redeemed in the Monster 500 racing app. The code allows you to unlock the character you have and race with them through out the game! The app is available for free in the app store and on Google Play.
As soon as my kiddos saw the Monster 500 play sets they were begging me to set them up! The first one we put together wads the Graveyard Gauntlet track set. This set features a Drac Attack vampire car and lets you race two cars down over 8 feet of fun track. Once the winning car hits the skeleton finish line a flag is triggered and signals the winner! This set reminds me a lot of ones I played with as a child. It was super easy to set up and comes with a vice grip for hooking onto a table, windowsill or other elevated surface. Push down on the skull and the racers go flying down the track towards the finish line!
The second play set we set up was the Toxic Terror Trap. This one features the Evil Clownevil racer as well as an elevator that makes engine revving noises and an animated ooze monster that has sounds and moves. This set is a bit more complicated to put together but took me about 5 minutes following the directions. The set does require 3 AA batteries which are not included so be sure to have those handy when you start. Both my kids love the elevator which dumps the car down the track towards to ooze monster. The monster sways from side to side and depending on when the racer gets to him it will either be fed to a hungry alligator looking creature or bust through a menacing wall.
Both Monster 500 play sets and their large and small racers have held up well to play and my kids have had a blast with both of them! From a Mom stand point , the sets are engaging, fun and the age ranges are on point. The cars feel nice and sturdy and my son loves carrying them around with him. Another great point I like about these play sets is that you get a great amount of play for a reasonable price.

I love these toys. My youngest daughter is turning 8 at the end of the month, she is no part of a girly girl. She would absolutely love both of these! Thank you for sharing, I think I just may get these for her.

So glad my boys are already in bed as I read this review. I just know one of them would have looked over my shoulder and I would have heard “mommy, what’s that?” followed of course by “That looks cool, I want that!” Definitely something I will have to look into for my boys.
