I received tickets to the Rockstar UPROAR Tour and promotional product from Pura Vida Tequila as compensation for my coverage of the event. All opinions are my own.
When it comes to rock music, rock stars and concerts, there’s always room for some great alcohol. Of course along the way there may be a little too much room for alcohol but hey, when in Rome right?!
I recently had the chance to party and hang out with Pura Vida Tequila, a new up and coming Tequila brand offering some of the purest tequila out there and the kings of rock themselves, Godsmack! Now if you could take a peek through the looking glass at my teen years, you would see a girl decked out in Hot Topic wear, dark brown and bright fire-engine red hair and an iPod full of Seether, Nirvana, Saliva, Avenged Sevenfold and of course, Godsmack. Pretty sure I peed a little when I found out I’d be meeting one of my rock band idles and tasting some of the best tequila available.
Viva Pura Vida!
Pura Vida translates to the pure life which is exactly what Pura Vida is helping tequila lovers experience by taking the purest blue agave and incorporating it into their spirits. Besides offering a premium tequila experience, Pura Vida offers the first ultra-premium tequila available for under $30! Not only do they offer tequilas made with 100% blue agave, including their Silver, Respado, Anejo, and Extra Anejo; they also create NARANJA, ( the secret ingredient to the original Mexican Margarita) Don Pancho Coffee Liqueur, El Guapo’s Sangrita and Bloody Maria Mix and Agave Nectar.
While checking out the Pura Vida Party Bus at the Rockstar UPROAR Festival, I had the chance to taste a few of Pura Vida’s tequilas. Honestly, after a 10 month drinking hiatus ( I just gave birth to my 3rd baby on August 16th so drinking has been out of the picture for a while) I could definitely feel the pure-ness of the agave! We were able to take in a traditional 8:15pm tequila shot with Sully Erna (lead singer of Godsmack) and the Godsmack crew. I’ll admit, the smoothness of the tequila was highly appreciated by this light weight!
“The idea of 8:15 was derived while traveling the country on the most recent headlining tour of my band, Godsmack,” explains Erna. “Because our stage time was at 8:30pm, my band mates and I, and a few girls from the production office would get together around 8:15 every show day and cheers to a shot of tequila. Eventually every shot was cheered by the words, ‘Happy 8:15!! Pura Vida!”
I have to say, it was pretty awesome being able to take in this tradition with Godsmack and Pura Vida.
Ear splitting Godsmack awesomeness!
After pre-partying on the Pura Vida party bus, we headed to the main stage and got ready to rock out with Godsmack! Being in the photo pit gave us the best seats in the house. We were so close, we could reach up and touch Sully’s shoes and my whole body was vibrating from the closeness of the speakers. It was AWESOME! I had a blast hearing one of my favorite bands live for the first time and seeing them totally rock the house. I loved hearing the classic Godsmack songs I knew such as, I Stand Alone, Awake, Crying Like A Bitch, and my personal favorite, VooDoo as well as new singles from their upcoming album, 1000HP!
Thanks to Pura Vida and Godsmack, I can safely say I experienced my first taste of alcohol in 10 months with more then worthy tequila! I had an amazing time having the rock star experience and I can’t wait to pick up my copy of Godsmack’s new album, 1000hp!

So jealous, this seems like it was a great time. I definitely want to try some of that tequila too, the bottles are so pretty.
Wow, what a crazy awesome experience that must have been! I would have loved to have been in your shoes for a day!!! I’ve never tried Pura Vida but this isn’t the first time I’ve heard about it. Time to get on the band wagon and give it a try!
