Thank you to the Black Walnut Cafe for providing me with a meal. All opinions are my own.
Recently while visiting Houston, TX we were treated to a new way of dining through the contemporary American fast casual concept with the Black Walnut Cafe. Basically the Black Walnut Cafe is making eating out at a contemporary American restaurant easier by simplifying the ordering process and eliminating the waiter factor to bring you a dining experience that’s more intimate for the restaurant go’er.
When you first walk in you’re greeted by a nice open area and a menu station letting you know how the process works. There’s a seating area for you and your family to relax while deciding what to eat and then when you’re ready, you head to the ordering station to place your order and pay. You’re then free to fill your own drinks and choose a table in the dining areas while waiting for your pager to go off when your food is ready for pick up.
Although they have bussers, the Black Walnut Cafe does not have a waiter system so drinks are self serve, tables are chosen by the guests, food is prepared and then a pager is beeped to let the customer know their order is ready and dessert is available in an A La Carte style area featuring Itialian style Gelato and an array of cakes, pies and pastries. Personally, I loved the experience and being a family with two young kiddos, it makes the whole dining out experience a lot easier!
When it came to the food, it was wonderful! I ordered the Pot Roast, my hubby enjoyed a Shrimp Alfredo and my children had Cheese Quesadillas and Grilled Chicken. The best part was heading to the dessert bar to choose our sweets and I have to say the Cannoli and Turtle Cheese Cake we had were outstanding! The staff were encountered were very friendly and it was great to see the managers walking around and making sure everyone was happy. Best of all, it was great to be able to just sit, enjoy our meal and then head out when were done instead of having to wait for a check. Again, with little kids that easily get antsy, sometimes a quick getaway is much appreciated!
We had a wonderful experience at the Black Walnut Cafe and I’m looking forward to visiting again when we are in Houston!
