Summer is officially here and it is BEYOND hot in South Texas. We couldn’t wait to help our little one expand her love for water and have fun cooling off us so we decided it was time to help her learn the ropes of swimming. For the past few months we’ve been working to introduce her to the water with the help of the SwimWays Baby Spring Float ( available at Toys ‘R’ Us). What we love about the float is that it’s great at supporting our child as we introduce her to the water as well keeps her out of the sun with the included and UPF 50+ removable sun shade. The Swimways Baby Spring Float also features a soft mesh seat and a fabric covering to ensure comfort, and a low center of gravity that allows babies to play with added security and stability.
So far we’ve tried using the float many times and although our daughter is more than safe in the float, she still doesn’t seem to feel completely comfortable in it. She loves playing on the steps of the pool and has no problem splashing along the edge of the steps but she still seems a bit scared even when I or my husband holds here in the water. We’ve found that if we enter the pool holding her and go very slowly she doesn’t seem to get as scared and will let us bop around in the water with her, however if we start off with her playing on the steps things quickly turn from fun to horrible screams.
Thankfully SwimWays offers great resources for parents like us that are helping their children learn to swim. With over 40 years of teaching kids to swim, SwimWays has taken their expertise and created TeachMeToSwim.com featuring the 3 Swim Steps that will help get kids swimming. We’ve been using these steps to help us with our baby girl and they’ve become a great reference for us! We will continue to help our little one acclimate to the water this Summer and can’t wait to see her smiling face splashing around in the SwimWays Baby Spring Float!
This is awesome! I want to take my little one for some swim lessons too !
What a great little float for your young one to be able to splash around in while in the pool!
This is an awesome (and cute) float! I love the shade. 🙂 I will be teaching my son to swim this Summer as well. I’ll definitely check out swimways, thanks for sharing!
