Learn and play with the i-Mat, My Animal World Set from Creative Baby!

When it comes to products for my kids, I’m always looking for something that isn’t just fun to play with but that will also help them to learn or further themselves. Thankfully Creative Baby has brought innovation, education and fun together in their new i-Mat, My Animal World Set! The i-Mat is an interactive, electronic foam play mat that lets kids 18 months and older use an electronic voice pen to learn about the creatures featured on the mat.

We were given the chance to test out the i-Mat and it’s been a HUGE hit since we opened it! The mat features an array of great features, including:

Set Up

Setting up the i-Mat was incredibly simple. The mat is made up of 4 large foam pieced that fit together and the voice pen requires 2 AAA batteries that are not included.  Just push the mat parts together and load up the pen with batteries and it’s ready to go!

There is a ridiculously small screw on the battery compartment for the Voice Pen. It’s so tiny I couldn’t find a screw driver that would get it out and ended up having to use the tip of a knife. (totally unsafe I know) Once I got it out, I didn’t put it back in. The cover for the batteries locked in fine without it and I didn’t feel like my kids would mess with it.

The Voice Pen can either be turned on by pressing a button on the pen, or you can hover it over the on symbol on the mat. You can also control what language the pen speaks in and the volume by hovering the pen over the right symbol. I was really surprised how responsive the Voice Pen is! It reacts immediately to the commands and the volume range on it is just right.

Play Time!

With everything set up it was play time! My kids had a blast pointing the Voice Pen to the different animals and hearing their sounds, names and fun music to go along with them. You can even have them play games with the mat by hovering the pen over the last two symbols by the languages at the top. The games will have them hunt for specific animals or sounds and are great for older kids. My 4 year old loved playing the games while my 2 year old was more keen on hearing the animals and dancing to their corresponding music.

I love that the Voice Pen is the perfect size for little hands and the mat is spill proof. My kids have had many a picnic on the mat since we put it together and it still looks new! The mat features all kinds of animals and I like that they are all set in their normal habitats. Since using the i-Mat, both my kids have learned new animal sounds and names and both can point out what’s what to me. It’s also really neat that it features different languages! Great for bi-lingual households.

When it comes to educational fun, the i-Mat from Creative Baby definitely proves to be a winner! Both my kids have  wonderful time playing with it and I love that they are learning while having fun.
