Being a mom to 3 littles, I know the endless amounts of stored energy my toddler and preschooler seem to have. It never ceases to amaze me how far their little engines can run without ever getting tired! It makes me wonder where the natural nuclear engine we all seem to have as kids goes once you hit adulthood. Of course endless energy means having the need to constantly be doing something and sometimes, there just aren’t enough activities to accomplish. Thankfully LeapFrog has come up with the perfect product to help harness the endless energy of kids and use it to help keep them active and healthy. Meet the LeapBand! The LeapBand merges the wearable factor of a watch with fun, kid friendly physical activity prompts and games to create a great new, “Fit Made Fun” environment for keeping children active.
Not only is the LeapBand great for keeping kids active, it also helps them to learn through the included actives and fine tune things like motor skills, imaginative play and listening skills. My 5 year old daughter has LOVED feeling like she has a virtual pet and being able to interact with it. She chose a unicorn for her pet, however the LeapBand offers an array of fun pets to choose from that will interact and help keep kids active while teaching them healthy habits. After watching my daughter interact with the LeapBand, I think it’s great that LeapFrog has created a way to keep her moving while still having fun. She seems to really enjoy listening to the prompts the device gives her such as; “Leap like a frog” or “Jump like a kangaroo”.
The LeapBand seems easy for my daughter to navigate and learning how to use it didn’t take much time. My favorite features of the LeapBand are it’s water resistance, durability and the fact that it offers parental controls. With the parental controls I can be sure my kids are playing with the LeapBand when I want them to and not using it when it’s time for other things. The device is made from hard, thick plastic and has been tested by LeapFrog for kid-friendly durability which is always a plus. I also like that LeapFrog has kept the interface of the LeapBand simple with just 3 buttons for interacting with the device and a power button. The colored screen is bright and easy to see which is also nice. If I had to change anything, I wish there was a volume control since sometimes the voice prompts can be a little hard to hear if other things are happening around the child.
Since introducing the LeapBand to my daughter’s everyday activities, I have definitely seen a want to be more active. She loved to run and play before but now she is adding activities such as wiggling like a worm or making sure she washes her pet and feeds them everyday. I feel the LeapBand is a wonderful way to get kids moving as well as teaching them cause and effect while fine tuning their motor skills. It’s certainly been a major hit with my daughter since she has been wearing it non-stop for over a week now!

I want one of these for my daughter. She’s a little on the chubby side because she doesn’t get enough running around in like she should. I think this would help with that, to get her more active.
