I received an all expenses paid trip to from Disney to Los Angeles, CA to attend the Planes Red Carpet Premiere, an event for The Little Mermaid diamond edition DVD release and to meet Disney’s Super Buddies. I was also provided a sample of the film to review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I recently attended a press event in Los Angeles, CA to celebrate the release of Disney’s Planes and re-release of Disney’s, The Little Mermaid as a Diamond Edition Blu-Ray! While there, we also had the chance to get in on Disney’s latest new straight to DVD movie, Super Buddies!
The latest film in the Buddies franchise, Super Buddies, shows just how dog-gone (pun intended) amazing these little pups are. When they end up acquiring rings that give them super powers, they must use their new found abilities to keep the world safe and stop an evil villain! I can’t wait to see what Disney has in store for us with the cast of this film, I’m hoping it involves playing with some crazy cute furry friends.
A meeting of super proportions!
On the last day of our LA Disney excursion we were given the chance to actually MEET one of the Super Buddies, Rosebud! Out of all the Super Buddies, Rosebud is the ONLY girl, which really makes her a super hero for being around all those boys. 🙂 Ironically though, Rosebud’s character is actually played by a boy puppy named Cooper; who’d a thought!
Cooper, I mean, Rosebud was accompanied by her trainer who was able to give us a bit of the low down when it comes to being a Super Buddy. There are actually about 4-6 different dogs that play each character through out the filming process. Pups start their 2 weeks of “Buddy Camp” training at about 6 weeks and once they become too large to play their Super Buddy role, are replaced with a newly trained pup. During filming each puppy is only allowed about 2-3 hours of work time and then given a break so as not to tucker the little guys out too badly.
What I found really interesting is that all the dogs used for any “Buddies” film, always have homes or are found good homes through an adopt a buddy program Disney has in place. This ensures that those pups that don’t originally have a family, find a good one once their time in the spot light is over. How cool would that be to own a fully trained Super Buddy?!
Besides meeting with Rosebud, we also got to check out where all the Disney magic happens at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, CA! It was so awe-inspiring getting to see where the “magic” happens and take in the grandeur of a real Hollywood movie studios. It’s certainly an amazing place to be, not to mention the cafeteria is like going into a 4 star restaurant! For lunch I had caper-covered salmon, mashed potatoes, steamed cauliflower and broccoli and a smoothie! I mean, that’s the most amazing “cafeteria” lunch I’ve EVER had!
Bringing Super Buddies to our home screen!
After all the fun and excitement of meeting Rosebud, I was able to return home and let my kiddos take in the super excitement with me through watching the new Super Buddies DVD! My kids loved seeing the adorable pups in their super suits and following along with the story of the film. My daughter loved pretending to have all the different super powers but I do believe Rosebud is her favorite. 🙂
It’s a great family movie and can be enjoyed by super heroes of all ages. Super Buddies is now available on Disney Blu-Ray Combo Pack, which allows you to watch it three different ways; Blu-Ray, DVD or Digital Download. If your kids are fans of the buddies movies, or just love watching adorable puppy dogs save the world, then Super Buddies is a movie that’s perfect for them!
