Thank you to Kmart for providing me with samples to review. All opinions are my own.
The holidays are here and kids everywhere are making their gift lists and parents are checking them twice to see what new products their kiddos are wishing to find under the tree. It’s not always easy narrowing down your child’s holiday wish list and luckily Kmart’s created an easy way for parents to find this year’s top toys in one place, with Kmart’s Fab 15 Toys!
Kmart knows holiday shopping can be tough so they’ve made grabbing your holiday finds easy with Kmart online, in-store and via mobile phone. Besides the Fab 15 Toys, Kmart also offers a broad selection of other hot toys for children of all ages in their annual Kmart holiday toy catalog. I remember as a kid I always loved going through the toy ads and circling the products I wanted to ask Santa for. Now I get to watch my own children partake in the fun.
I was given a chance to check out two of the Fab 15 Toys Kmart offers, the Playskool Sesame Street Big Hugs Elmo by Hasbro and the LeapFrog LeapPad™ Ultra. Both items were on my must grab list for my kiddos, so when I found out Kmart offered them both I was ecstatic! Not to mention being a Shop Your Way Rewards Member means I earn points for every purchase I make that can be used towards future Kmart purchases.
Playskool Sesame Street Big Hugs Elmo by Hasbro
My kiddos both absolutely adore Elmo and the Big Hugs Elmo certainly doesn’t disappoint. He hugs, dances, sings and interacts with my kids and is beyond lovable! A few of my favorite features of Big Hugs Elmo are –
- Hug Elmo and he’ll move his arms to hug back
- Imagination activities include astronaut, rabbit, frog and horse themes
- Move Elmo around and he’ll respond with dancing
- Sing along with 3 songs
- Lay Elmo down to hear a lullaby and sleeping sound effects
I remember when the Tickle Me Elmo came out and my youngest brother just adored him. I have to admit he was beyond adorable and seeing Elmo back for another infamous round of fun really makes me smile! Elmo is soft, however you can feel his gear box in his belly so he’s still a bit off from a stuffed animal. His voice and speech are spot on and I love the song he sings to the kids. All in all, a super adorable toy for kids and Elmo fans of all ages!
LeapFrog LeapPad Ultra
I have to admit, the fact that my 4 year old is more technologically advanced then I was at the age of 10 is a bit scary. With tech toys being a big draw this year there’s no wonder everyone is flocking to the latest from LeapFrog, the LeapPad Ultra. If ever there was a tablet made for furthering kids educations the LeapFrog LeapPad Ultra is it! Just a few of my favorite features of the LeapPad Ultra include:
- Built kid-tough with a 7-Inch hi-res screen and Wi-Fi with kid-safe Web.
- Kid-safe out of the box, LeapPad Ultra offers extra parental settings to easily control exactly what experiences a child can access
- Works with LeapFrog’s library of 800+ apps, games, eBooks, videos, music and more
- Includes 11 apps (onboard and downloadable): Photo Fun Ultra, Art Studio Ultra, Pet Pad Party, Utility Suite, Pet Chat and more
- Features 8 GB of on-board memory which holds up to 40,000 photos or 140 Game Apps
- Built-in rechargeable battery
- Front-and-back cameras
Right out of the box the LeapPad Ultra was ready to use. We did have to charge it a bit and it does take some setting up by plugging it into your computer first, so I suggest you do this before gift giving. I love that the LeapFrog Explorer game cartrdges that worked for the previous tablets also work with the LeapPad Ultra, not to mention the many parental settings come in handy since it’snow Wi-Fi enabled. You can also have your child’s learning progress emailed to you every month so you can see what they have learned and progressed in! A perfect toy for kids on the go and parents looking to keep kids learning through out the year.
Be a gifting superstar!

I bet my daughter would love that Elmo! Are the gears loud? A while back Laugh and Learn had a moving puppy that I felt was so loud when it moved. Hopefully the Elmo isn’t that loud 🙂
Hey Jacklynn!
actually the gears aren’t loud at all! I was surprised that I coulnd’t hear them at all, but the noise made by the character also may drown them out.. Elmo isn’t super loud though 🙂
I like things made easy. Maybe next year they will come up with a list for my 40-ish year old husband!
Thanks for the list! I’m not up on what’s hot this year. Sweet T likes her LeapPad though. It’s been a good investment.
Great list! We have the ninja turtles shellrazor, and my son loves it (he really wants the remote control one for Christmas!). The LeapPad Ultra looks great – we have been thinking about getting a new kids “tablet” and this may be the one.
My girls have been wanting Monster High this year.
We try to avoid licensed character toys, but I might have to break my rule for the Doc McStuffins Check-Up Center. My son loves it when I sing the “time for your check-up” song. 🙂
i think my son is too old for the Elmo but he is begging for it. Santa gave in and added it to his definite list…
My son loves to play on my ipad so i migh get him a leap pad ulta!
We got the LeapPad Ultra to review, and the kids love it. It’s actuallly a great tablet even for a child as young as two (which my daughter will be two next week.) I think this is a great list of toy selections.
My favorite feature of the LeapFrog LeapPad Ultra is that it is built kid-tough with a 7-Inch hi-res screen and Wi-Fi with kid-safe Web.
Good way of explaining, and pleasant post to take facts concerning my presentation subject matter,
which i am going to deliver in university.
