It’s back to school season and kids of all ages are returning to the classroom. While us moms are pouring Mimosas and waving goodbye as the school bus pulls away, our kids are off training to be useful adults. Of course, once the school bus returns what can you do to help your kids de-stress or get rid of the rest of the energy they’ve accumulated from their own busy day of learning?
Here are 3 fun and easy ways to help your kiddos de-stress from their busy day at school and get them ready to do it all over again tomorrow!
1) Do homework and get the wiggles out
I know this sounds like a total contradiction, but if your kids are like mine, sitting still can be a chore. Help your kids stay focused by giving their hands something to do while they read or write with a Fidget Spinner or Fidget Cube.
Using one of these products while doing homework will help kids with fidgety fingers keep those ever moving hands busy while still getting that daily reading or writing work done.
We have a ZURU Spinner and ZURU Fidget Cube that we use for homework time at our house. They work great and are super durable!
2) Burn off steam with water play
Burning off steam from school with outdoor activities is a healthy and fun way to de-stress. One of my favorite ways to do this is with water balloons!
There’s always the classic water balloon fight but other games such as toss, tag, baseball and dodge ball are all way more fun when water balloons are involved.
I love to use ZURU Bunch O Balloon water balloons whenever I’m planning water play. They are absolutely the easiest water balloons to fill, just twist onto the hose and 60 seconds later you’re done. Not to mention each pack comes with 100 water balloons.
3) Relax with indoor imaginative play
When kids have had a tiring day sometimes some cool, quiet and imaginative play is the best way to de-stress. Let them curl up on the couch for a TV show with their favorite stuffed animal or pretend-play with some of their favorite toys in their room.
Some of my kid’s favorite imaginative play toy choices are Just Play’s Mickey and Roadsters Racers Pit Crew Toolbox, PJ Mask’s Mini Vehicles, and Disney Pixar Cars 3 Crash Em’s Plushes.
Each one of these toys are great for sparking creativity and setting their imagination free all while relaxing and winding down from the school day.
Whether it’s an indoor or outdoor day, helping your kids de-stress and relax from their school day will make homework and home time more enjoyable.
