Every soon to be and experienced mother knows what it’s like to have the pregnancy jitters. Although it’s a glamorous thought that all pregnant women are able to have an easy birthing process and come out with a bouncing new baby, this couldn’t be further from reality. Birth is a scary, hard, excruciatingly painful process that can last for hours and sometimes days. The environment in which a mother gives birth can set the tone for the way her entire process will go not to mention help to shape the way she views the birthing process for her future pregnancies. Plus, having the proper medical care while giving birth can not only ensure a safer birth, but save lives from possible complications.
Unfortunately, not all women around the world have the ability to give birth in a safe, healthy and clean environment. Close to 300,000 women every year die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth with 99% of these deaths occurring in developing countries. Whether they live in a country where medical care isn’t up to the proper standards or they simply aren’t well off enough to afford the proper care, women through out different nations are having to cope with the thought of bringing a child into this world in a less then safe environment. Thankfully, there’s now a way for those of us who are able to access proper birthing conditions to make sure others less fortunate can as well. Meet Kangu, a non-profit organization that works through crowd-funding to help sponsor pregnant women from around the world so that they may receive pre and post natal care and give birth and in a proper and safe environment.
By visiting kangu.org, people from all over can find pregnant women in need and offer to help give them the means to access high-quality healthcare before, during and after childbirth. The best part about the services you’d be helping them to afford is that they are all provided by vetted local medical partners and are proven to reduce maternal and newborn deaths by up to 80%. What an amazing gift to give a developing family! With so many women giving birth in horrible conditions, Kangu is making strides to help every mother give her new baby a safe entrance into the world.
Donating through Kangu is easy! Visit Kangu.org, browse the profiles of the pregnant women in need, donate any amount in your choice starting at $10 or more and then receive email updates on the mother you’ve helped sponsor!
Help a mother gain extra funds for pregnancy medical care by entering to win 1 of 5 $100 donations on your behalf to the Kangu Mama of your choosing! Simply share Kangu via the widget below on any of the specified platforms. Giveaway ends March 2nd 2015.

Hi Melanie,
I hope you’re having a great day. We’re getting ready for Mother’s Day here at Kangu. It’s an exciting time of year for us each year, with over 80 mamas being fully funded in the weeks leading up to Mother’s Day annually! We would love to have you partner with us to highlight a specific mom, or give a shout-out about Kangu. Users particularly like the option to give a donation as a gift on Kangu, so the funding towards a mama’s safe birth is given in honor of their mother or other loved one, who receives a personalized Mother’s Day card via email.
Please feel free to contact us at: connect@kangu.org.
I love this. I feel so lucky to be able to have had my baby in a safe place with medical care available when something went wrong. It is great to be able to provide more women around the world this opportunity.

This is such a problem all over the world and rarely gets attention. These under served women and infants are the ones who need the most post natal care. This is wonderful!!

Every woman should have the opportunity for a safe and clean birthing experience. It should not depend on how wealthy a woman is. Bringing a child into the world is the single most important thing a woman will do in her lifetime! I love the idea of being able to donate to this worthy cause.
