Thank you to Mrs. Smith’s for providing me with samples to write about.
When it comes to my favorite part of a meal, it’s always dessert! Nothing seems more satisfying than a big piece of pie to share with my kiddos after a great meal. Unfortunately, I don’t always have time with my busy schedule to make those kinds of goodies. Thankfully, I’m able to get my fix with Mrs. Smith’s frozen pies and cobblers. Mrs. Smith’s offers loads of great frozen pie and cobbler flavors that are easy to bake and have that made-from-scratch taste I love!
Unfreezing my frozen perspective
Now I know not everyone is crazy about frozen foods and I admit, I’m one of those people. I always thought frozen desserts and entrees meant lower quality with a higher price tag, so I mainly stayed away except for veggies and fruits. I must say though, that after trying out Mrs. Smith’s frozen desserts, it’s helped to unfreeze my mind on frozen foods!
I was given the opportunity to try out two different Mrs. Smith’s pies, Dutch Apple and Peach. The pies were easy to find in the frozen dessert isle of my local grocery store and were fairly priced. There was a good selection of pies and cobblers available for me to choose from which was nice. Each pie is pretty good size at around 37 oz and is perfect for feeding a family or dinner guests.
From frozen to homemade
Baking the pies was super easy. Each box comes with clear instructions printed on the back containing oven temperature, cooking time and preparation. The pie I picked up was a pre-cooked Dutch Apple Pie so it just needed some re-heating. I turned my oven onto 400, took the plastic wrapping off the pie, wrapped a cookie sheet in some tinfoil, placed the pie in the middle of the cookie sheet and popped it in the oven for 25 min. The directions state to cook the pie between 25-30 min depending on your oven.
It’s pie time!
In just 25 min, the smells of cinnamon, brown sugar and baked apples had filled my home! I reached into my oven and pulled out a beautiful, golden, delicious smelling apple pie. I couldn’t wait to dig in and share with my family! The apples in the pie were nice and juicy and the dutch crumble topping was the perfect sweet addition to the apples. We plopped a dollop of whip cream on top of each piece and it was to die for! I was stunned!! I had been proven wrong about frozen food and what I thought they were all about. The pie tasted almost as though I had made it, and with Dutch Apple Pie being my specialty, that’s saying a lot!
The Peach Pie was equally as wonderful with large chunks of peaches and was just as easy to bake as the apple. With all the flavor combos available in both pies and cobblers you can’t go wrong with pleasing even the pickiest of pie eaters. Picking up a Mrs. Smith’s frozen dessert for any dinner occasion will ensure your family and guests will have a wonderful homemade pie or cobbler experience.

Yummy! I will have to see if I can find it in my local store. Apple pie in milk in a bowl is one of my faves.
Looks delicious. I can smell the cinnamon and apple. I really should have had breakfast before visiting.
LOL I know how that feels! I hate grocery shopping when I’m hungry, it seems I end up with every cookie and ice cream flavor in my cart when that happens 🙂
Yummy! This looks incredible and easy!
Yum! I love apple pie, but with such a tiny kitchen to work in, I rarely make it. I will definitely be picking one of these up at the store.
I have never tried the Dutch Apple but I love Mrs Smith’s pecan pie.
