Thank you to Joovy for providing me with a sample to review. All opinions are my own.
If you’re a parent, you know what it’s like to feed a child. This August we welcomed a beautiful baby girl into our family and we couldn’t be happier, however since she was born she’s had issues with feeding. I’ve been breast feeding and having done so with my other two children, I’m aware of what it should and shouldn’t feel like. Unfortunately, my new little one was giving me quite the struggle with latching onto my breast and would get incredibly frustrated when feeding.
We soon found out the reason why was because she is tongue-tied. A tongue-tied condition happens when the string of tissue under your baby’s tongue, called the frenulum, which attaches their tongue to the floor of their mouth, is too short. This keeps the baby’s tongue from moving freely, and can cause problems.
Since my baby was having such a hard time feeding from me, I’d been pumping and thus using bottles to feed her instead. Being bottle fed seems to be much easier for her but we were having issues finding a bottle that was right for her. Recently we tried the Boob Baby Bottle from Joovy and our daughter is loving it! The Joovy Boob Baby Bottles we tested were the glass option as well as a plastic, PPSU version.
What I love about glass is that it won’t absorb odors, colors or tastes and are easier to heat. Joovy’s glass Boobs have the option of a silicon sleeve which also makes holding them easier and keeps baby a little safer from accidental bops with the bottle. Joovy’s Boob nipples are also molded to offer 5 different flow rates instead of cut like other nipples. This makes sure that they hold to that flow rate and won’t warp. They also bake their nipples which makes the silicon they are made from stronger and keeps them from collapsing during feeding, an issue we were having with other bottles. Another reason the Boob’s nipples are great is that they offer a wide base making them feel more natural to the baby.
The PPSU Boob Baby Bottles are a great plastic option for us. I love that they also are designed to stand up to repeat sterilization, won’t hold odors or color and are phthalate and lead free. Plus the shape of the bottle fits perfect in your hand so it doesn’t feel awkward. Another great thing about all of Joovy’s Boob Baby Bottles is that they use a patented CleanFlow Vent System. The vents fit snugly ontop of the bottle and don’t come in contact with the liquid at all. The one-piece CleanFlow Vent System provides consistent venting during the whole feeding no matter how the bottle is held. This is a great way to prevent babies from getting gas pockets in their tummies when feeding since they gulp less air.
The PPSU Boob Bottles we tested came in a wonderful gift set complete with every size nipple we may need as our baby grows along with cleaning tools and extra bottles, newborn nipples and tops.
Thanks to Joovy’s Boob Baby Bottles my daughter is eating much easier and as a mother, seeing her happy means everything in the world.

Both my children have had tongue and lip ties. My first had horrible trouble breastfeeding and I didn’t realize it was caused by a tie until he was 10 months old. With my second son, I knew what to look for and we took him to our local tongue tie expert (http://www.drghaheri.com/) and had his ties revised and breastfeeding has been amazing! A 180 degree difference between the two experiences.
Tongue and/or lip ties do NOT have to be a death sentence for breastfeeding.

So glad to hear you were able to get it fixed! We are in the process of having her looked at as well for getting it fixed. The thought of putting her under anesthesia at less then 2 months old is a MAJOR heart stopper for me, and the pediatric dentist I talked to about it recommended to wait till she was a bit bigger or to talk to a local feeding specialist first. We’ve don’t the lactation consultant and she was the one who diagnosed her as tongue tied. Hopefully we are able to find a happy place with it though
like your kiddos have!

Can you recommend a brand of electric sterilizer for the Joovy Boob bottles esp the 9oz ones? I am looking to buy the Tommee Tippee electric sterilizer but since these sterilizers are not cheap I would like to make sure they fit my preferred bottle in this case the Joovy Boob.. Thanks!! 🙂

Hi Erika! Great question! As for an electric sterilizer, I’d recommend the Wabi Baby Electric Steam Baby Bottle Sterilizer and Dryer – http://amzn.to/1vRhVbq It’s a little pricey but it works VERY well and fits a good amount of full size bottles, breast pump parts, teethers, and even kids dinnerware. Plus it will dry and deodorize and is BPA, phthalate, and PVC free. 🙂
