I received a product from PopUp Play to facilitate this article. All opinions are my own.
Kids have some of the most amazing imaginations. One minute they can be a knight slaying a dragon and rescuing a princess and the next they can be plucking candy from a gingerbread house in a magical forest. As a parent, I feel it’s one of my duties to nurture my children’s imaginations as best I can, whether it’s through reading, play, writing or games. I love hearing about their magical adventures and the stories they dream up, but sometimes I wish there was a way to make those dreams into a reality for them. Thankfully PopUp Play has leaped head on into the dream making business by allowing kids to create fun play houses and castles online and then have them turned into a REAL playhouse!
We had the chance to experience creating a PopUp Play play house and besides being super easy, it was loads of fun for my kids! The design app is an easy download on any iOS device ( yes, currently the design app is only available for apple devices, however PopUp Play does have pre-designed play houses for purchase as well). Once downloaded, kids can choose from a castle or a gingerbread house and soon a rocket ship to customize.
What I loved most about this app is that when they say customize, they really mean it! Kids can choose from loads of graphics to add to the house, what kind of door style they want ( drawbridge or double door), if and how many turrets they want on their castle, windows and much more! The play houses can even be personalized with a name and they will get to see exactly what their play house will look like. Ordering your design costs $99 and is easily done through the app and you can also save designs as well and come back to them later. My kids ask on multiple occasions if they can build a play house just because they love playing with the app!
The castle arrived within 5 days of ordering and was incredibly easy to set up. Each piece is shown on an instruction sheet and basically clicks into place. I was surprised at how thick and sturdy the cardboard it was made of was. My favorite part of the castle were the turrets as they seemed to really make the play house! They can even be crawled into from the inside of the castle. The different layers to the front of our castle door really gave it a neat, 3D feel and graphics on the sides were a great size for little hands to color.
All of my kids were beyond excited to play in the castle they created! Once they were done, the castle was easily disassembled and we put it back in the box for storage. If it’s a windy day, I do recommend using the play house indoors so it won’t blow over. These play houses would be a wonderful addition to any play room or a great centerpiece to a birthday party!
If you’re looking for a great way to spark your kiddo’s imaginations and bring a bit of their story telling to life, I would highly suggest checking out PopUp Play!

These are the coolest thing I have seen for kids in a long time. So many pluses, they get outside playing or inside, imagination playing instead of a remote or controller, if you really want to, the whole family can go all out and color it, paint it, there is no limit. I love this and keeping their page marked for future use.
