Welcome to part 3 and the final conclusion to my Huggies Pull-Ups potty training diary! If you’re curious about our journey, feel free to check out part 1 and part 2 of our potty training diary. It’s been a long road but I’m happy to say I am the proud mommy of a totally potty trained little girl!! After a few weeks of trial and error and one or two accidents, she’s gone from Monsters U training pants to character undies. Although she loved her Monsters U pants so much, it’s hard for me to keep her out of the extras we have sometimes! My son also loves them, so I’m glad they come in boy friendly colors when it comes his time to learn. I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to see how proud she is when she comes out out of that bathroom. The smile she’s bearing is just about as big as it gets!
Although my little princess is now potty trained, I still try to make it fun for her by doing certain things. She loves singing her favorite songs during potty time or picking out a special dress up costume to march to the bathroom in. Sometimes she still gets nervous if she’s been on the potty for a little longer than normal or we are in a public bathroom so we will play the icky sandwich game to help pass the time. What’s the icky sandwich game you ask?! It’s a game my mom used to play with me when I was little where we take turns creating pretend icky sandwiches! I’ll make up an icky sandwich and tell her what I would put on it, like old salami, fish, dirty socks and mustard. Then she tells me what her icky sandwich would be made of. It certainly helps to pass the time and it keeps a smile on her face. 🙂
I’ve found that sometimes accidents are just unavoidable, especially when nap and bedtime come around. We used to give my daughter a sippy cup of water to take to bed, but we realized that this wasn’t helping her accident issue. So, we decided to nix the night time water and also got a waterproof bed pad to protect her mattress. We left the hall light on outside her room and left the door cracked a bit so if she woke up and needed to potty, she wouldn’t be in the dark and could easily find the bathroom. This helped immensely!! Without the water she no longer had as many accidents and with the light to guide her, she made it to the potty safely. We also kept a little basket with a spare pair of undies in it just in case she did have a little bit of an accident. She gets really embarrassed now when she pees a bit in her pants, and would rather change herself so we found this way she could do it on her own and not feel embarrassed.

I used pullups when I was potty training my two oldest. I still buy the pullups wipes for them to use to make sure they don’t leave anything behind. I love pull ups!

I didn’t use pull ups with my oldest, but will definitely be doing so with my youngest. They’re just so cute and makes dealing with accidents so much easier!

Ugh – we’ve got to get started on this with my 2-year-old. The good news is that once he is out of diapers, we are DONE!!
Huggies make it much easier, that is for sure.

I used pull-ups with my kids and really liked them. I had a friend telling me it was a waste to use them, but it got my son potty trained very quickly! The pull ups had characters he liked and then we checked out underwear and he found even more characters he liked so he was very motivated to get done with pull ups.

I was anti-pullups when I potty trained but can see the ease for sure. Whatever works! Potty training made easier is worth almost anything.
