As a World Market Ambassador I was provided product for feature in my article. All opinions are 100% my own.
I love being a stay at home mom and having the chance to be with my kids all the time, but every now and then I just need a little girl time. A night where I can have a some quality time putting my feet up for a bit and having fun with the girls. Of course what better way of entertaining the gals than with a movie night featuring wine, sinful snacks and of course tons of chocolate! Needing a break from my every day busy life, I decided to host an enchanted forest themed Maleficent movie night. I thought it would be a fun new take on the normal Maleficent parties I’d seen hosted and had a great time gathering up items for my display. Here are a few easy tips to help you host you’re own enchanted forest girl’s night in!
1) Choose a color scheme
A color scheme is a great tool for any event. It will help guide you in your purchases so that the set ups will look clean and coordinated. I chose a color scheme of teal, plum purple and gold since I felt those colors best brought out the light and dark sides of the movie characters.
2) Find fun and whimsical decor
The best part about hosting an enchanted forest themed party is that so many different decor aspects can be used. I choose to use a flower patterned table cloth and runner and used moss and potpourri garden elements to tie in the Wooden bowls, coasters and cake stand I found. I also grabbed some bright purple and teal candles and placed some moss around them for what turned out to be a really nice display. You can add some height to your tables by using greenery and flowers.
3) Offer unique snacks
No movie night is complete without some great munchies. I chose to put a twist on movie house staples by using neat foods that were close to what you’d find at the theaters. Kettle Corn (popcorn), colorful tortilla chips and queso (nachos and cheese) four different kinds of gourmet chocolates ( candy) and sparkling french sodas ( beverages) tied in with my enchanted forest theme. I also added some sweet moscato wine to wrap up the girl’s night aspect.
4) Choose a movie everyone will love!
Your movie choice should be something that’s fun and inviting for everyone. Make sure you aren’t choosing a film that’s too violent or risque if you know you have guests attending that may not appreciate it. I chose Maleficent because I knew it was a movie everyone was eager to see and since it was a recent release it was fresh on everyone’s minds.
5) Create memorable party favors
Everyone loves coming away with something fun from a party. Being that you’re hosting a girl’s night, think of favors that are unique and functional. I choose to go with little pocket hand sanitizers in colors that fit my scheme and asked a friend of mine who happens to own Lily Bean Couture ( an embroidery business) if she could create a few Maleficent headbands for us all to wear! The headbands were a big hit and fun to wear during the get together and what woman can’t do with a little good smelling hand sanitizer.
Whether you’re planning a girl’s night or another fun event, these 5 tips are sure to help you succeed. You can find all the decor and goodies you’ve seen featured in this article at your local Cost Plus World Market!
