Dealing with depression on a daily basis isn’t easy. Millions of people in the United States suffer from depression, with an estimated one in 15 adults (6.7%) experiencing at least one major depressive episode in any given year. It’s often something most individuals try to hide and can make understanding your feelings hard for both the person with depression and those around them. Having suffered from depression myself, I know what it’s like to feel unmotivated to move throughout the day and as if your feelings of sadness and unhappiness are controlling you. Depression isn’t an easy thing to deal with but it is manageable and with a care plan, you can get yourself feeling back on track.
People these days are so busy with their work, lives and other daily demands that it can be hard to manage your care at times. Thankfully Pfizer has created an app that can easily go anywhere on your iPhone and helps to motivate and encourage those with depression through positive reinforcement. Meet the Moodivator app. The Moodivator app is designed to help motivate users and work in line with their current treatment by allowing users to track their mood, set goals and establish routines that can help support them in their daily life. This kind of support is important for those with depression because even small tasks can feel difficult sometimes.
Take a look at some the great features of the Moodivator app and find out more through this video:
- Goal setting: Ability to create manageable goals in categories such as work, home and family or social activities. These goals are then presented in clear and achievable actions. Goals can be adjusted over time and turned into helpful habits as part of an ongoing routine.
- Mood tracking: An easy to read scale that lets users track how they are feeling.
- Sharing results: allows users to share their goal progress through clear charts.
I’ve been using the Moodivator app for about 2 weeks now and I love it! It’s helped me stay focused and feel like I’ve accomplished more in my day. My favorite feature of the app is setting goals. It really helps to keep me striving for something and gives me something to look forward to accomplishing. I also like how I can track how my mood is changing through out the day and week. Knowing my mood changes helps me work with my care providers to figure out what parts of the day I tend to struggle with and how I can work to improve that. I also really like that I can easily share my Moodivator progress and information with my care providers so that they can help track my progress.
If you suffer from depression or know someone who does, I highly recommend the Moodivator app. It’s helped me gauge a better understanding on how I can manage my feelings and moods and it’s a great way stay motivated. The Moodivator app is now available for free download to your iPhone through iTunes and the Apple App store.
The Moodivator app is not a treatment for depression and does not take the place of your doctor’s care or advice. This app also includes information about a prescription treatment option for depression.
